The Platonic Music Engine takes an initial input from the user (like a name or number or random string of characters) and converts it into a piece of music or other art work.
The software then allows you to manipulate this random-sounding music via the use of various style algorithms and functions into sounding like any style of music imaginable while still preserving your original input in its core. The music remains unique to your input, intimately connected to your initial choices. Increasingly I've been adding style algorithms in other media like visual art and text.
Click on the Music link above for a rather poetic essay about the PME with links to examples of it in action. You can find other examples and explanations by following the links to articles and posts I’ve written for other websites in my Blog section.
